A really awesome day at Ashfield House for some ace wedding photography. Massive congrats to Ness + Matt, for getting married in this multi-award-winning, family-run house-style wedding venue in Wigan. I love shooting at this wedding venue, it’s full of quirky details and character and designed with weddings in mind.

I have photographed a few times at this wedding venue now and it’s most definitely one of my favorites to photograph weddings at. Not only because it’s in my hometown of Wigan, but just down to the way the venue is operated. The layout and lighting of the house ensure you get some fun and creative documentary-style images of your special day. Ashfield House is an exclusive venue which means you and your guests feel comfortable and right at home. It’s one of the things I notice when I look through my camera, guests get relaxed and have a better time.

Katie and her team have managed to make this family-run business a huge success and gathered many awards for their dedication to their couples.

PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHS IN THE HOME

The whole of Ashfield House is perfect for wedding photography, every corner has been considered and it looks great with you and your guests in them. There are many parts of the house to use for wedding portraits including the grand staircase, ceremony room, terrace and gardens. These are just some of the best spots I like to use. The closeness of the building also makes for some excellent documentary-style photography. Ness + Matt decided to spend their whole day at Ashfield which meant no time was lost in capturing the moments of their day. Ness got ready in the bridal sitting room, a spacious room ideal for bridal prep. Matt and his ushers used the bridal bedroom to get ready before heading down to the ceremony room.

A CHRISTMAS CHOIR SURPRISE

I got to witness a festive choir experience! Ness + Matt decided to surprise all their guests for their festive winter wedding by hiring a Wigan choir to be revealed during the drinks reception. It was very uplifting and put everyone in a happy singing mood for the day. I’d never seen anything like this before, so I was very excited to capture the details of the reactions of the guests. It’s great to meet other vendors on a wedding day and I got to work with several for this one, such as: The Rose Boutique Flowers, Nick Malone Wedding Films, Makeup by Frankie, Bellas Little Cakery & DFC.
