WELCOME TO A 53TWO WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY IN MANCHESTER
Wayhey! You made it to my most recent work in Manchester, at the unique venue of 53two wedding photography. Georgie & Craig had one of the most unique weddings I have ever shot. As alternative weddings go, this one was up there on the top tier. 53two is primarily a theatre-style venue, set up with bare brick and spotlighting and it makes a perfect space for couples wanting a stripped-back alternative style wedding. 53two’s layout and set-up really lends itself for my alternative style of wedding photography and I had a field day capturing Georgie & Craig’s wedding.
I arrived to start capturing the roughly about an hour before the ceremony, making sure I managed to capture the love and hugs from all the arriving guests. It was a rainy Saturday in October for my 53two wedding photography, and every situation (as creative and cool as they seemed), proved to be a hard capture with the limited light available within the venue. Ploughing on, I caught some top memorable moments for Georgie & Craig, the venue’s spotlighting provided directional highlights on people’s faces which made for really nice captures.
I was made up to see that the ceremony would be held within a central spot instead of a traditional aisle style. I really do like it when couples choose something that’s totally different from the norm. This enabled me to capture a lot of people’s faces as I travelled around the room during the vows, which was also a nice moment as it was Georgie & Craig’s friend actually who married them, and another family member sang opera to conclude the ceremony.
On the outside, the venue isn’t much to look at as it resides inside an arch underneath Manchester railway tracks. However, I relish the challenge of applying my style to any situation, so I couldn’t wait to get stuck in to see what I could create. Being a theatre-style venue, I had to use various points around the venue to create some creative and artistic styles for the images of the couple. One of my favourite images from the day was where I used a single spot-lit blacked-out room used for theatre-related work. I managed to highlight Georgie & Craig in a dramatic and arty way for their photographs.
Georgie & Craig chose 53two to be their wedding venue as across the road under the First Street Bridge, was the first time they started to date. Knowing this, I had to use this very bridge for some photographs of them both, so they can always look back at the point where it all started.
